Instant Strings

Designed by Dr. Matteo Giammario, this series makes possible good performances by players who have not yet entered their second method book. If your group is incomplete, all arrangements are playable using only the first violin with piano accompaniment. If your group is complete, the piano is not needed. All parts are in first position, and awkward fingerings are avoided. Suzuki trained students will have no trouble learning any of these arrangements, and traditional students will find the present arrangements to contain only whole, dotted half, half and quarter notes. Beginning bass players can participate, since the bass parts contain mostly open string notes. Eliminating rhythmic complexities makes possible the learning of the few new notes that may be new to some of your younger players. For your second violin, viola and cello players all parts are interesting without being difficult, and the melody is often doubled in these parts. Grade 1 music has never been so melodic as this, and the students are learning some melodies that are standard favorites. This also makes for more successful concerts, since the melodies are familair to the audience. Best of all, it will be possible to have string rehearsals that will be more productive and enjoyable for you and your students.
